Pneumatic seals restrict the release or entrance of pressurized gasses within a pneumatic valve or action such as a cylinder. These seals are typically designed for much lower pressure than is used in hydraulics. Common fixed systems are designed to use compressed atmospheric air that can be easily refreshed but pneumatics in other systems can use nitrogen, pure oxygen and carbon –dioxide.
